I first discovered salsa dancing during a solo trip through Guatemala the summer after my sophomore year of college. That was back in 2010, and I’ve been obsessed ever since.
As a student at Brown University, I danced with Attitude Dance Company and explored styles from lyrical and hip hop to Bollywood and musical theatre, but it wasn’t until after graduation (and a year of traveling around the world) that I bean dancing salsa and other latin styles more seriously. (That’s my way of saying, it’s never too late to start something. Never)
In November of 2014, I entered and won my first competition at the San Francisco Salsa Congress before taking 1st in the Salsa Pro-Am division at the 2015 World Salsa Summit in Miami, Florida.
After dancing in San Francisco for two years with Couture Dance Alliance, I moved to New York to pursue my dream of dancing professionally. Since then I’ve performed with Balmir Dance Company, and competed throughout the United States and Canada taking home many gold medals and titles in pro-am and am-am divisions.
In October 2018, I competed in my first professional competition and won the Female Soloist Divison at the Canada Salsa & Bachata Congress. My dance partner, Hunter Houde, and I also won the Professional Salsa Showcase and 3-Dance Challenge divisions at the Liberty Dance Championship in November 2018.
