I spent last weekend celebrating a friend’s wedding in Costa Rica. It was an incredible trip full of sunshine, great people, and good food, but by the time I walked into my apartment late on Tuesday night I was exhausted. Four days of sun, late nights, and one very long day of travel had wiped me out.
Thankfully, before I left for my trip I had taken a few minutes to tidy up my room (which was in complete disarray after my late-night packing sesh, during which I had unearthed my s ummer clothes from the back of my closet, most of which ended up all over the place instead of in my suitcase) and make my bed.
To be clear, my room was not perfectly put back together, nor was my bed perfectly made. I had, however, pulled it together enough so that it looked neat and organized when I came home, which is one thing I’ve learned to do before leaving for a trip.
After a long day of navigating airpots and sitting on flights, there’s nothing more stressful than walking into an apartment that’s a mess. Trust me.
On the other hand, coming home to an organized space always makes me feel glad to be home and ready to take on whatever it is I have planned for the week.
What do you do before leaving for a trip? Are you planning any fun trips for the summer?
